First Kenyan woman rally driver Orie Rogo Manduli has died on September 8, 2021, at the age of 73.
Orie Rogo Manduli was the first African woman ever to participate in the East African Safari Rally in 1974 and 1975.
She hated the fact that the few women who participated at the Safari Rally were all foreigners. She wanted to prove the worth of Kenyan women and literally took the wheels in her hand.
She drove a Colt Lancer. She also fought for the leadership title of the National Council of Non-Governmental Organizations and was the first woman chairperson of Kenya NGO Council.

Orie Rogo Manduli, aged 73, was married twice. She was married immediately after she finished her studies at Machakos Teachers College.
She had three daughters with her first husband named Elizabeth, Allison, and Janice. However, they divorced only five years after their marriage.
Manduli then married her second husband Norman Manduli in 1980. Norman was a Zambian and cousin of former president Frederick Chiluba.
He was a politician and businessman in Lusaka. But, he worked right across Africa and passed away in 2003. They were married until the day he died.

Manduli was also a trained teacher but never pursued a career in teaching because she got married immediately after she cleared her studies.

She passed away at her home in Riverside Drive. She and her assistant, Samuel Ndambuki, had gone for a checkup at Nairobi Hospital on Tuesday.
On the morning of her demise, she visited her brother and seemed perfectly normal. She was preparing to go for a dental checkup and doing her makeup when her assistant noticed her leaning on one side.
The exact cause of her death is not yet disclosed and her body has been moved to the morgue as of now.
