Following a horrific shooting in a Texas school the day before, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell delivered an impassioned statement on the Senate floor on Wednesday.

A 10-year-old girl who had recently been named to the honor roll, a fourth-grade teacher who had served for the school district for almost 17 years, and two 10-year-old cousins were among them.

Who Is Jailah Silguero?

According to her father, Jailah Silguero, 10, was the youngest of four children and the family’s “baby.” She looked forward to coming to school and seeing her classmates. On Tuesday, she was one among those killed at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas.

According to a state police official, a gunman killed at least 19 children and two adults in a rural Texas elementary school on Tuesday, the bloodiest American school shooting since the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre.

Jailah, according to Luevanos, enjoyed dancing and making TikTok videos.

Jayce Luevanos, Jailah’s cousin, was also slain in the incident, according to Luevanos. She added that Jayce’s father, her brother, was grieving his death.

Jayce and Jailah’s cousin Zeke Luevanos described the children as “angels” who “always had a grin on their face.”

10-Year-Old Told Her Father She Didn’t Want To Go Before The Mass Shooting Tragedy

Jailah Silguero was said to be a child who loved going to school; on the day, she told her father, Jacob Silguero, 35, that she wanted to stay at home on Tuesday. It was out of character for her, and by the following day, Mr. Silguero recalled, she appeared to have forgotten about it. She dressed and went to class as usual.

Jailah didn’t typically ask to stay at home, according to Luevanos. I believe she anticipated something. 

On Tuesday, 21 individuals were shot and murdered, including 19 children and two adults. The gunman was also killed.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office in San Antonio is now processing all 21 victims. According to Diaz, the gunman is being held in a neighboring county and will not be transferred to Bexar County until all victims have been processed.

According to a snapshot of communications released on the social networking site, the 18-year-old Uvalde shooter messaged someone on Instagram saying, “I got a tiny secret,” just hours before he gunned down Robb Elementary School has 19 students and two teachers.

An Instagram account linked to gunman Salvador Ramos shared a photo of two guns lying on a carpet three days before the attack. The image in the narrative referenced another Instagram account by name.
