Eduardo Garcia Lost His Arm In A Hunting Accident
On October 9, 2011, when Eduardo Garcia was bow-hunting elk in the Montana backcountry, he received a severe electric shock from a 2400-volt power line. After seeing a bear’s dry remains, he removed its claw with his knife.
He did not notice that the carcass was over the power line, and when touching it, he was knocked to the ground and severely burnt. His memory of the incident is unclear as he remembers telling himself to get up.
The next thing he remembers is walking on a road a mile from the accident spot. He had already walked three miles with his severely burnt body when he finally found help.
He recalled that he was terrified but had a strong mindset on learning how to survive. To add to the injury, he has also diagnosed with stage two testicular cancer while in hospital.
Due to cancer, his surgeries had to be put on hold for three months to undergo chemotherapy. He had a tough time in recovery as he had to get through cancer and surgery to amputate his hand and recover.
