When Riley left for the USC Trojans, Stoops returned to the field as the Sooners’ interim head coach.
He had stated that 2017 was the right time for him to retire and he was not sick at that time.
Our sources confirm that Stoops was in fact, healthy and sound thus, he had stepped down from his head coach position as the time suggested.
