Blue is the first comedian to appear on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Now, he has become an audience favourite in America’s Got Talent 2021.

His recent finale performance at AGT led to everyone laughing out loud.

What Disease Does Josh Blue Have? Illness Explained

Josh Blue has a neurological disease called Cerebral Palsy.

To be more specific, Josh Blue suffers from the illness of Spastic hemiplegic cerebral palsy.

Born on November 27, 1978, doctors diagnosed Blue with the condition when he was one year old. This has resulted in limited movement of the arms for the comedian.

Spastic hemiplegia injury is reportedly caused by a brain injury. It mostly affects the motor cortex, which can occur in different ways. But, for most children, neuron damage happens before, during, or shortly after birth.

Unfortunately, there are no medical treatments for spastic hemiplegia at the moment. Though, physical therapy can do improve the condition.

Josh describes his situation as mild to moderate. Likewise, he also has trouble with spasticity.

Josh Blue Disability – Update on His Health

Despite Josh Blue’s disability of Cerebral Palsy, he makes most of his life.

In fact, Josh surrounds most of his comic performance based on his life as a cerebral palsy patient. He jokes about the way he deals with the disability as well as how people deal with him.

In 2006, Blue even appeared in NBC’s Last Comic Standing. Apparently, he wanted to make people aware of the fact that people with disabilities can make an impact.

He started his introduction as, “Living with a disability, I do find I have to prove myself a lot”. And, ended his final performance with “palsy punch”, eventually winning the show.

In 2021, Josh Blue health update states his condition is stable. His recent America’s Got Talent performance is evident for this.

Is Josh Blue Sick?

Despite his disability, we will not call Josh Blue Sick.

In an interview, the comedian stated, “My parents treated my disability as a normal thing; that I have some special needs,” he said. “It’s something that exists – I’m going to do things a little differently than others. It wasn’t a big deal.”

Josh states he doesn’t want to stop doing anything because of his illness. He said, “If I don’t accomplish what I want to, it’s not because of my Cerebral Palsy.”

In 2004, Blue even represented the USA Olympics team in the 2004 Paralympic seven-a-side soccer event.
