Midori Francis parents Ken Iwama and Joanne Iwama have successful careers in different sectors. Ken serves as a Chancellor at Indiana University Northwest and Joanne is a psychotherapist. 

Francis is widely popular for appearing in the lead role of the Netflix series Dash & Lily. Currently, she is known for portraying the role of Dr. Mika Yasuda in the long-running show Grey’s Anatomy along with cast members Caterina Scorsone, Ellen Pompeo, Kevin McKidd, and Kim Raver.

The actress has also appeared in films such as Ocean’s 8, South Mountain, and Good Boys. Recently, she appeared in the film Unseen as Emily.

Francis was raised in Rumson, New Jersey by her folks. She comes from a multi-ethnic background as her father is of Japanese descent and her mother is of Italian and Irish heritage. 

Midori’s Father Ken Iwama Serves In Education Sector

Midori Francis father Ken Iwama became the seventh Chancellor of Indiana University Northwest in August 2020.

Before he began his service as the seventh Chancellor he worked at the College of Staten Island of the University of New York as the founding vice president for the division of economic development, continuing studies, and government relations.

During his tenure as the vice president, he led the university’s Tech Incubator expansion and created the first innovation center in the borough. Before serving in the aforementioned designation Ken worked for two presidents of the college as chief of staff and deputy.

Prior to beginning his career at the university, he served as the general counsel for the State Operated School District of Jersey City. Ken is known to be the executive committee member of the Coalition of Urban and Metropolitan Universities.

Ken completed his bachelor of arts degree in English from the University of New Hampshire and received his master’s degree in labor and employment relations from Rutgers University School.

Iwama received his Juris Doctorate from Seton Hall Law School.

Ken is 56 years old and his birth anniversary falls on April 21. 

Her Mom Joanne Is A Psychotherapist

Midori Francis mother Joanne Iwama is a self-employed psychotherapist. Joanne is also a licensed social worker.

According to the Crisis Center Inc website, Joanne serves as a member of the board of directors. She has been associated with Jewish Family Services.

She completed her bachelor’s degree in social work from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey-Newark in 2013. Iwama joined Monmouth University in 2013 and completed her master of arts degree in social work in 2015.

She Grew Up With Two Brothers

Midori Iwama brothers include the older one named Patrick Bekgran and a younger one named Marcus Iwama.

Patrick is Midori’s half-brother; the actress mentioned in one of her Instagram posts that she was never fazed that the two of them didn’t look alike. She also mentioned that the two of them being half-siblings doesn’t change the bond or love between them.

Bekgran is a chef by profession. He celebrates his birthday on July 30.

In September 2018, Patrick tied the knot with her partner Megan Massey.

Marcus is the youngest among the three of them. He was born in the year 1996 and currently he is 26 years old. The young sibling celebrates his birthday on November 12.

According to the actress’ social media post, Marcus went to Japan for his studies in 2017 for five months. It is known that Iwama played wrestling for Rumson-Fair Haven High School.

Midori Is Close With Her Grandparents

Talking more about Midori Frances family, the actress featured her paternal grandparents on social media.. Francis is named after her grandmother Midori.

Her grandfather is currently 93 years old and celebrates his birthday on October 8. He moved to the USA when he was 19 years old and became an electrical engineer and served as the vice president of AT&T.

Her grandmother is currently 92 years old and she celebrates her birth anniversary on June 21.
