American politician Philip Batt, who presided as Idaho’s 29th governor from 1995 to 1999, was born on March 4, 1927, and died on March 4, 2023. Previously, Batt held positions as the 35th lieutenant governor of Idaho, chair of the Idaho Republican Party, and legislator. He belonged to the Republican Party.

Before being elected governor, Batt spent thirty years as a Republican politician in Idaho, serving in the house from 1965 to 1967 and the state senate from 1967 to 1979. He also served as the 35th lieutenant governor from 1979 to 1983.

In 1982, he ran for governor but lost to incumbent Democrat John Evans in a close contest.
