Hinako Shibuno, nicknamed Smiling Cinderella is a Japanese professional golfer who was born on November 15, 1998, in Okayama, Okayama, Japan. She was born to her mother Nobuko Shibuno and her father, Satoru Shibuno. Her father was a discus thrower and her mother was a javelin thrower.
Hinako Shibuno won the 2011 Okayama Prefecture Junior Golf Championship (junior high school division) as well as the Chūgoku Region Women’s Amateur Championship in 2014. She won the team competition in the National High School Golf Championship in 2015.
Hinako Shibuno turned professional in July 2018 and later won the World Ladies Championship Salonpas Cup in May 2019. She won the AIG Women’s British Open, her first LPGA Tour event in August 2019. She is the second Japanese player to win a women’s major championship, after Hisako Higuchi. Hinako is also the second player this decade to win in her major debut.
