Justin David Hawkins is the founder, lead singer, and lead guitarist of The Darkness. He is also the lead singer and guitarist for the band Hot Leg, which went on hiatus in 2008.
Hawkins began his YouTube channel “Justin Hawkins Rides Again” in 2021, where he analyzes music, commentates on the music industry, and answers fan inquiries.
The channel now has 440,000 subscribers as of July 2023. Hawkins has written on a wide range of songs and musicians, including Greta Van Fleet, Maroon 5, My Chemical Romance, Disturbed, Metallica, Korn, Limp Bizkit, and Slipknot.

The brothers grew up in Lowestoft, Suffolk; Hawkins recalled that he and Dan shared a friendly sibling rivalry which prompted both brothers to learn guitar at a young age.
