David Dastmalchian Biography

KS native David Dastmalchian is an American actor of stage, film, and television. He has received recognition lead roles in Tennessee Williams’s The Glass Menagerie and Sam Shepard’s Buried Child at Shattered Globe Theatre.

He also portrayed Kurt in Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man (2015) and its sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018), Murdoc in CBS’s MacGyver, and Abra Kadabra in The CW’s The Flash.

David attended Shawnee Mission South high school. He also graduated from The Theatre School at DePaul University. After graduating college he held various jobs including professional fishing in Alaska, performing in a circus, ushering at a movie theater, and playwrighting. Later he became a member of the Shattered Globe Theatre Company and the Caffeine Theatre in Chicago.

Before his career as an actor, he suffered from heroin addiction for five years before getting clean. He wrote about his experience in his screenplay, Animals.
